Done!!!!

I took my last Praxis test today! I am so exhausted now. It was very hard because I would have rather been in Blackfoot with Tyler at his dear Grandma Hansen's funeral but, with great love and support from Tyler, I knew it was here I needed to be to take this test. So, I tackled it one more time. The result, we wait 4 weeks but I know whatever happens, it will be okay!

Salt Lake City Half Marathon

My first half marathon! It was so fun. I love the atmosphere on race days and the feeling I get when I pass people!!! I have decided that 13.1 miles is perfect for a race. It was a blast. (Thanks Tyler for being posted at 2 different places to keep me going! And, for getting up super early to be there for me!)
Though my blister problem on several of my toes were intensified during this experience, I would do it again in a heart beat.

It's time for a Royal Wedding!

I admit that I was a little excited about this "Royal Wedding" I feel that that comes from the little bit of British I have in me! (Thanks to the prophet knowing I needed to go there on a mission!!) If I wasn't born American, I would have been okay to have been born British! :) I don't know what it is about this love story...maybe that Kate is just a normal person who is marrying a prince!

Anyway, I am not crazy and was going to get up at 3 am to watch it and with the wonders of technology, I didn't have too. All of a sudden I got this idea in my head to make....

CRUMPETS

So maybe they look a lot like silver dollar pancakes but they are not. They were tasty (despite the power going off for an hour and my first batch sitting in the pan. Waiting and waiting and waiting. After a run outside-in the snow- it was back on!)

Here is the recipe if anyone wants to try. What a great way to celebrate a snowy, cold day and a wedding!

Ingredients

    • 2 cups plain flour
    • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 3 teaspoons baking powder
    • 3 eggs
    • 1 cup milk
    • 30 g melted butter (a little more than 2 Tbsp)

Directions

  1. Mix everything, leaving butter for last.
  2. Grease a flat bottomed frying pan or griddle.
  3. Drop or pour small amounts of batter onto griddle.
  4. Turn and cook other side when bubbles break on surface of crumpet.
  5. Heat should be medium to get a deep, even golden colour.
  6. Serve warm with butter and jam sandwiched together.

Awkwardness and AWESOMENESS

Awkward(ness)

- Victoria Secret...I know, I should be okay with that but is really is an awkward store
- the awful Easter bunny costume at the mall. I would never let my children have a picture with him...He was scary!

- the horrible snow pellets that poured down today
- The Praxis test (that is more awful than awkward)

Awesome(ness)
- the movie Kung Fu Panda (where awesomeness comes from!)
- Spring break is T minus 1 day (though I am super super sad I have to be away from Tyler for a whole week!)
- my first half marathon in also T minus 1 day!
- the sunshine
- The I tunes store ( I have been on there a lot lately!)
- 30 something days left until summer vacation

The week from......

No need to finish that! I am finally ready to talk about my horrible week. I think of that book, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, and I can totally relate. Last week was an awful week and I am so glad for a day of contemplation and rest from everything. So, why the horrible week you ask? The Praxis test has again become a hurdle in my life. After countless hours of studying and preparation and 4 weeks of waiting, I saw that I again did not pass. I was shocked because of how great I felt about it. I knew for sure this was the time. But alas, it was not. I have just been a bum all week and didn't want to do anything. I showed all my classes a movie because I knew as soon as I started teaching I would burst into tears. But, I have some great friends who helped me through this week and a wonderful boyfriend to help everything make sense. He sent me beautiful flowers and a note reminding me of what is really important.

So, I have now made sense of everything and am fine. I haven't cried since Friday! That is pretty good! I know that when life hands you lemons, make lemonade. I didn't want to at first but I can change my attitude and move forward. It's almost spring break which will be a great break away from school. I need it more than ever. And I know, everything will be just fine!

Really....snow.....in April

I don't know why I am so shocked with this. This was not the week to have snow because it put me in more of a bad mood. But, I am so done with winter I can't even explain it. We ran 8.6 miles this morning (because our half marathon is in exactly one week!!!) and by the time we got back I was soaking wet. I stood in the shower for at least 15 minutes I was so cold. But, back to the this snow. I just am done with it! It is April and we should be seeing a beautiful flowers and the sun! I am still waiting for that. So sun, please please come out and take this snow away!

Surprises

A yucky day really turned around when I got this beautiful surprise at school today from Tyler. He always knows what to do and what to say during a difficult time. Thank you Tyler! I love you!

I heart General Conference

Oh how I love General Conference weekend. 10 hours (well, 8 for us women) of words and direction from our prophet and other leaders of the church. I loved every second of it. I can't lie and say I saw every second of it because I didn't. I did happen to close my eyes for a bit but thank goodness for the internet! I felt so uplifted and edified by the end of it. It always makes me sad that we need to wait 6 months before it comes around again!
