I won
I never win. Anything. At my senior graduation party there was raffle. There were only 96 people in my graduating class and about 75 went to the party. Through out the night people were winning stuff. Cars, Tvs, gift certificates... Well, by the time the raffle was wrapping up I still had not been called. Finally they just gave me something. A ten dollar gift certificate to Arfmann's! The sad thing was, they gave it to me. My name didn't even get called. That was 11 years ago. And my luck has been like that ever since. Now, let's go back to yesterday...
I just received my magazines from the Provo Campus and was reading in the Junior Scholastic. There was a contest where the first five teachers to email them would win a free Special Edition DVD set of Planet Earth. I don't teach science or anything but Tyler and I have spent some good time watching it and I think it is so good. I thought, why not? I probably won't win anyway. I type the email address and all I sudden I hear that happy noise saying I have an email. I open it up and see. "Congratulations Carrie! You are one of our winners!" Finally my streak is broken. Maybe it's time to buy a lottery ticket!

September's Home Teaching Visit
Or lack of....I am not going to say a word about men not doing their home teaching. I am no pro at visiting teaching. But I have the funniest story about home teaching. It all started a few weeks ago...
I was at FHE with my roommate, Stefanie and a member of the EQ presidency made a quick announcement that every one should now have home teachers. So the next thing that happens makes so much sense in my head. Last Thursday I get this email saying something like this.
Home Teacher: "Hey, (So and so) and I are your home teachers. We would love to make you breakfast before dinner this Sunday. Let me know if that works for you.
My Response: Wow, that is nice! Sunday is great. What time?
Home Teacher: How does 9 sound?
My response: 9 is great. Where?
No response. The last correspondence was Saturday. Tyler and I went to Mary Poppins on Saturday night (which was amazing!!!) and got home late. But the next morning I wake up at 8:40am to get decent before the home teachers come. I begin watching the RS broadcast and I wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. They never came. I was frustrated and all ready to give them a piece of my mind.
On Monday, my roommates and I are talking about some guys they met at FHE that night and they were looking in the ward directory. I asked them to look up the names of my home teachers so I would know who they were and....they were NO WHERE to be found! They were home teachers from my old ward in Holladay! So, sorry guys! Not there any more but hopefully you fed the Valley View girls some breakfast!!!

Just an update...
After I did my blog post on my grasshopper friend, I realized I have not posted in a long long time! So, here is a quick update of what has been happening.
My job at PCS is going very well. I really enjoy the people I work with and all the girls I teach. It has been very rewarding. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have a job there and teach these girls.
I love Orem! Though the gym schedule is not what I had hoped, I am getting used to it. I live with some great girls and have enjoyed getting to know them. And the best thing about living in Orem...the five minutes that it takes to get me from my house to Tyler's!

I had a new friend for about 5 minutes. My new friend is this grasshopper that you can hardly see but I promise it is there. And, it was really enjoying the hood of my car today while I was busily teaching history to a bunch of girls! As I got in my car after work I noticed this grasshopper, who was actually pretty big. I figured he would jump off as I started the car. Nope. Then as I started driving, though it was only 10 miles per hour in the parking lot. Nope. Build my speed up to about 35 thinking for sure he would leap off. And again...nope. At this point I was about to get on the freeway (I snapped the picture before I was on the freeway. I was completely safe!) I was laughing out loud as I watched this poor grasshopper work so hard to move his body across the hood of car with 65 miles per hour winds against him. And then...
